Tips for Written Submissions
While panel members recognize that First Nations face many pressing issues, the panel has only a short time to examine regulatory options. If you aren't sure whether to include something, ask yourself if it will help the panel understand the issues involved in creating and running a regulatory framework for safe drinking water in First Nations communities. The panel will contact you if it needs more information about your submission.
Here are a few tips to help you prepare an effective written submission:
- The panel can receive materials as Word, WordPerfect or PowerPoint files. Please contact the
Panel Secretary if you wish to use other software.
- Provide a brief summary (less than 500 words) at the beginning of your submission.
- Include a Table of Contents in long submissions (more than 3,000 words).
- Please aim to make the text as clear as possible. Use simple language and an uncluttered layout.
To make your document easier to read, use bullet pointed lists and insert headings and sub-headings to break up the text.
- Focus on the subjects that are within the panel's mandate, which is looking at options for
regulating First Nations water quality.
